OC brings order to one chaotic kitchen..

We love feedback (when it’s positive) and want to share other cuppa users’ experiences with the world. Read this company’s slightly tongue-in-cheek description of OC adoption in their office (they even sent us a pic of their BrewList).

Thanks,

Team at OfficeCuppa

“Dear Office Cuppa,

In the uncompromising, dynamic and fast paced world of international relocation, my colleagues just don’t have time to canvas each other to ascertain their personal tea and coffee preferences when it’s their turn to brew up.

For years this has resulted in the wrong tea and coffee being prepared for other team members. So whilst there is a T in Team, the beneficial effects of making tea and coffee for colleagues are only realised if the order is prepared correctly!

Just one month ago we were in chaos. People were putting sugar in tea where it wasn’t wanted, pouring too much milk into coffee and sometimes completely ignoring the fact that some people like it black! I was starting to worry. Misallocated tea and coffee preferences were affecting morale and ultimately the performance of the business.

The knock on effects of the wrong cup of tea or coffee are under estimated. We Brits don’t like to make a fuss about an incorrect cup of tea or coffee so tend to soldier on and drink the offending beverage out of politeness. But soon the latent resentment spills over into serious grudges being harboured. Some opt out of the brew up altogether, scared of offending their colleagues – whilst others spend their days and nights worrying about being served yet another cuppa that isn’t fit for purpose! Morale suffers and team work is simply harder to get right when you’re running on the wrong fuel! This can spill over into ugly scenes in the kitchen. Scolding ‘accidents’ are not uncommon.

The net effect is that teams are slowly torn apart. Trust is eroded. Respect diminished.  Cooperation inhibited. Performance damaged.  Just as a butterfly beating its tiny wings in America can cause a tsunami in Asia, the wrong cup of tea in a marketing team in the UK can mean the loss of a multi million pound global contract.
